My Life being Disabled 03/06/08

Yesterday after waiting all day for the contractors from Wheelchair services to come. I phoned them at 16:00 and was told that the parts that Wheelchair services had ordered were incorrect. This is the second time so I'm going to speak to Wheelchair services to try and find out whats going wrong.

This morning I asked my nurse if I could have an appointment with the optician. Later on she told me it was arranged for Friday at 10:10. I also asked if I could go to the library and I went with one of the life skills co-ordinators. I changed my book to Dickie Bird's autobiography.

Wheelchair services told me they are going to speak to Clarke and partners to find out what's happening.

I've not heard anything so I've complained to PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service)

I would like to complain about my powerchair.
I contacted Wheelchair Services when I moved into this area in October 2007 as my records had already been sent from Wakefield Wheelchair services. My powerchair had broken in the move and I wanted it mending. When Clark and partners came out they couldn't mend it because you don't use this type of powerchair. At my first appointment with Wheelchair Services, in January, they proposed for me to have a new moulded seat, a new wheelchair and a new powerchair. I got another appointment to measure me for a moulded seat. My final appointment with everything ready was on the 2nd April but during this appointment we found the footrests were wrong on the wheelchair and powerchair. To save time you organised for Clark and partners to deliver them to me and you said it would take about 3 weeks. Last Friday, 02/05/08, Clark and partners told me they were coming out on Monday. After waiting all day I phoned them to enquire if they were still coming but they said they couldn't come because the parts you had ordered were still incorrect. This morning I phoned Wheelchair Services to find out what's happening. I left me mobile number and stressed I wanted to know as soon as possible. I've not heard anything since.
The reasons why I need my powerchair are, my independence and my manual wheelchair is very heavy and there are only a few people can push it so I don't get out as much as I like. I am trying to go back to work and the JobCentre(Remploy) are in the process of giving me work experience but they have told me to wait until I get a new powerchair. I know Janet White from Remploy has been chasing this issue as well.
